PAKETOMAT is a service on the Serbian market, with a purpose to enable users to redirect, receive and pay for parcels at a place and time convenient to them. Now, for the first time, it allows end users to pay directly at the PAKETOMAT, without having to get in contact with any person, whether a cashier or a courier. It is a secure hardware which contains several units for parcel delivery, payment and pick up. The parcels can be picked up 24/7 and remain in the unit for 48 hours. If the parcel is not picked up, it is then returned to the courier. It also allows couriers to reduce their „Last Mile“ costs, because delivering parcels into PAKETOMAT insted of visiting multiple addresses separately saves them both time and fuel.
The first pilot unit has been placed on a parking lot of a LIDL Supermarket in Belgrade (Kneza Viseslava 61V), Payten’s premier location partner for this project. Payten plans to install 49 more in 10 cities across Serbia by the end of the year. The PAKETOMAT pilot unit is equipped with unattended POS terminal supplied by Payten, to allow for secure card payment on site, which is the first service of this kind in the market.
